Tibiyo Taka Ngwane contributed E250 000 to the Reconstruction Fund, which was launched by His Majesty King Mswati III last week. The Fund was pronounced by His Majesty in July as an intervention to support the reconstruction of businesses which were affected by a violent nation-wide unrest in June.

Government reports suggest that the damage caused to different businesses and infrastructure amounted to about E3 billion. Subsequently, His Majesty announced that the Government had set aside E500 million to establish the Fund.

Tibiyo Taka Ngwane joined other donors and partners in a fund-raising ceremony held at Mandvulo Hall at Lozitha. Ingwenyama said that the initial funds were to kick-start a fund-raising initiative to support and rebuild businesses that were mostly burned down, vandalised and looted during the violent riots. Said the King: “Our economy was still growing. The destruction and looting we witnessed on businesses, hospitals, ambulances and trucks have taken us back.” Adding, His Majesty pleaded with more donors to support this Fund, whose details would be communicated in due course.
