Tibiyo Taka Ngwane donated 500 grocery hampers, 500 blankets and 30 water tanks to Philani Maswati Charity Organisation’s drought response initiative. Led by its patron, Her Majesty Indlovukati, the organisation handed these at an event marking the establishment of an old age home at Mliba area, in the Manzini region. The organisation was represented by member of the Main Committee, Mrs Nokukhanya Gamedze and members of staff.

“On behalf of the Main Committee, management and staff of Tibiyo Taka Ngwane, I am humbled your Majesty to hand over these items, consisting of 500 grocery hampers, an equal number of blankets and 30 tanks. This is a contribution from the organisation to your work to improve the lives of the elderly,” Mrs Gamedze said in her brief remarks.

The donation was in response to the Queen Mother’s initiative to support many elderly people who were hard hit by a drought that affected the southern African region in 2016. Receiving the donation, Her Majesty noted that the drought had caused massive havoc in communities across the country, which affected many families, particularly the poor and those headed by the elderly and children. She appreciated the support given by the Tibiyo Taka Ngwane and other institutions and individuals to mitigate the devastating effects of the drought.
